Energy Efficient Hydrogen Production via Hybrid Photocatalysis/Electrolysis System
Technology Overview
This invention entails a very cost-effective method of producing Hydrogen, which is an important element for clean and sustainable energy. A combination of electrolysis, photocatalysis and photovoltaic panels splits water to produce Hydrogen. This novel approach significantly enhances the Hydrogen production rate while using relatively less energy in comparison to other conventional methods. So long as there is water (renewable resource from rain or waste water) and sunlight, our system can efficiently produce Hydrogen with ease. The secret of this success lies in the components of a new generation of high performing photocatalysts that harness both sunlight and solar heat.
Technology Features & Specifications
Combining the reactive potential of photocatalyts to an electrolysis system promotes water splitting and improves Hydrogen production quantity Incorporating photovoltaic to the hybrid (photocatalysis/electrolysis) system provides a fully sustainable system for Hydrogen production A magnetic-assisted membrane separation system ensures Hydrogen production at very high purity.
Potential Applications
Hydrogen production system on rooftop of buildings Alternative energy source
Market Trends and Opportunities
In a densely populated city like Singapore, space will always be a constraint. By installing the hydrogen production system on rooftops of high rise buildings, it can provide electricity; at the same time significantly trimming the carbon-footprints of buildings.
Customer Benefits
Produce about 105L/h of Hydrogen using renewable technology ad resources (rain water & solar energy) Hybrid method conservatively achieves system efficiency of 45 – 48 kWh/kg (electrolyzers: 54 – 70kWh/kg)
